6 Tips on Dressing Toddlers
Dressing up your kids can be really fun and exciting. But sometimes parents do dress their little ones based on what they want – adult looking kind of outfit like shoes with heels, formal outfit for a normal event, very sexy dress. It may look very stylish for a kid but this is not actually what they really need. Here are some guidelines to help you decide what kind of clothing does your kid needs.
1.Clothes that will hold up
If you’re about to bring your kids out to a family gathering or just outside to play with other kids, they will usually play on the floor or playground, so make sure to let them use clothes that can hold up those kinds of activities. Skip the thin and light colored ones as you wouldn’t want to change your kid’s clothes every other minute.
2.Clothes that will not make stain very visible
Having mentioned that kids usually play everywhere, whether it is a clean or dirty area can easily make their clothes dirty and it will be hard for you to clean those. So avoid light colored clothes whenever they will be out, this will make you clean them easily and it will last longer as well.
3. Comfortable clothes
Your kid’s skin is still sensitive and delicate so letting him wear something rough or itchy will not make be good for him. Cotton fabric is the usual fabric for kid’s clothing as they are soft and breathable. Moreover, for tropical countries, letting your kid’s wear long sleeves or even t-shirt style are really not advisable as kid’s easily got irritated with heat. Let them wear Sando and shorts, especially at home. On the other hand, if it gets cold, let them wear fleece fabric to make him feel warm.
4. Clothes that they can remove easily
Kids at this age are usually potty trained, so letting your kid wear something that they cannot be removed easily is such a hassle for them. Toddler’s clothes (bottoms) are designed to have an elastic waist so it can be easily pull down. Not only this factor will be of help during a potty session but it can also make your kids learn how to dress and undress by themselves.
5. Know what kind of clothes to avoid
Fringes and string kind of clothing can strangle your kids to avoid having that kind. Meanwhile, clothing with loose buttons is also not safe as a kid can pull them out easily and has a high chance of eating it (kids usually put anything they can see in their mouth) – making them choke on it. Moreover, fabrics with appliques and sparkles can also make their skin irritated.
6. Stick with the basics
When in doubt what is good to buy for your kid, choose to the basic ones – simple shirts, Sando, sweater, shorts. These clothes can be mixed and matched making them have a lot of paired outfits.
It is not really bad to make your kids dress up very stylish but do put in mind that kids at this age are already beautiful with their innocence so don’t make them grow fast. Enjoy their cuteness while they are still young.
